OSCARS at EGI 2025

Calendar Event date
4 June 2025
On June 4th, from 11:40 am to 12:00 pm CEST, OSCARS representative, Anca Hienola, will contribute to the EGI 2025 conference with the talk Advancing Reproducibility in Open Science: OSCARS' Role in Enhancing FAIR Data Practices.
ABSTRACT
Despite years of FAIR principles being widely promoted, reproducibility in science remains elusive — fragmented data, incompatible formats, and opaque workflows still prevent researchers from building on each other’s work. The OSCARS project directly confronts this challenge by pushing beyond policy talk and into real, actionable change.
OSCARS doesn’t just support FAIR in theory — it funds concrete, community-led projects that are transforming how data is managed, shared, and reused across disciplines. By bringing together the power of Europe’s five Science Clusters, OSCARS drives a shift toward research practices that are transparent, verifiable, and designed for reuse. These solutions are built with researchers, for researchers — ensuring that FAIR principles lead to tools and frameworks that actually work in practice.
From mesocosm experiments and dark matter testbeds to drama corpora and fossil digitisation, OSCARS-funded projects show how diverse scientific domains can translate FAIR principles into real-world reproducibility, with results that are not only accessible but genuinely reusable and impactful.
This talk will present concrete examples of how OSCARS is changing the game for reproducible Open Science across domains — because if we want trustworthy science, we need systems built to support it.
