If the promise of Open Science in Europe is to be realised, there's a real need for cross-disciplinary actions. OSCARS is a step in the right direction. It reinforces the existing science clusters and promotes multi-disciplinary innovation.
Jonathan Ewbank has a PhD in biophysics from Cambridge. After post-doctoral work in the US, Canada and France, he was a group leader at the Centre d'Immunolgie de Marseille-Luminy for 25 years. He joined ERINHA, the research infrastructure that federates European maximum and high containment laboratories, in late 2021 as director general. ERINHA contributes to pandemic preparedness, including through projects such as By-COVID and ISIDORe.
