OSCARS must work for better synergies and efficiency based on Open Science. To this aim, we need improved cooperation between projects, as well as between disciplines and professions. Not only reuse tools and methods developed previously in other disciplines but also build and maintain a network of skills, training and support capacity between scientific clusters in EOSC and worldwide.

Short bio

Romain David, PhD, specialises in Life Sciences with a background in Oceanography and Data Mining. Currently serving as a Researcher and Data Steward at ERINHA (European Research Infrastructure on Highly Pathogenic Agents), Dr. David is committed to developing FAIR-compliant data resources and good data management practices. His role primarily involves implementing metadata and systems for Biosafety Level 4 labs across Europe, focusing on pathogenic agents within health sciences. Dr. David leverages his expertise to disseminate scientific knowledge through innovative data mining methods and graph-based data representation.
A leader in his field, Dr David has significant involvement in EOSC (European Open Science Cloud) projects such as ISIDORe and By-COVID, which aim to enhance accessibility to COVID-19 data and support ongoing research efforts. He actively contributes to the RDA, co-chairing Interest Groups like SHARC, PDS, and SD, and participating in initiatives such as the FAIR Data Maturity Model WG and Agro Semantic WG. His advocacy for "radical collaboration" in research and data management is reflected in his leadership of the OSCARS project, which seeks to develop and harmonize Competence Centers for data handling across Europe. Dr. David takes a place in international collaborations linking researchers globally to standardize data handling methods. He co-chairs the "RDA France FAIR" letter, facilitating the dissemination of FAIR practices within the French research community. Looking ahead, Dr. David is determined to bridge diverse research communities across oceanography, ecology, agriculture, and health sciences using RDA’s framework, and to drive forward multidisciplinary research programs and partnerships that integrate scientific and public stakeholders. Through his extensive experience and active engagement in international research collaborations, Dr. David demonstrates a steadfast commitment to enhancing FAIR data management practices and advancing open science globally.
