Great news! FMI’s Leading Specialist and OSCARS WP3 co-lead Anca Hienola has been invited to join the IPCC Task Group on Data Support for Climate Change Assessments (TG-Data) for the Seventh Assessment Report (AR7) cycle.
For those less familiar, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the United Nations body that brings together scientists from around the world to assess the science of climate change and provide governments with regular, authoritative reports. Its assessments are the foundation for global climate negotiations and policy.
TG-Data is the expert team that ensures the data behind IPCC reports is transparent, traceable, and accessible — so that scientists and policymakers everywhere can rely on a stable, trustworthy foundation for their decisions.
“I’m excited to roll up my sleeves with the IPCC TG-Data,” says Anca, “because without trustworthy, accessible climate data, we risk making decisions in the dark — and the stakes for our planet are far too high for that.” .
This appointment highlights Anca’s expertise in climate science, open data, and research infrastructures, as well as her commitment to advancing transparent, high-quality data in support of global climate assessments. She will serve in this role throughout the AR7 cycle, which runs beyond 2029.
